Topmast Stiffener

Tasar class rule F.1.2 requires that all topmasts shall be fitted with a stiffener. The sketch below gives the arrangement and dimensions of a stiffener.

The stiffener consists of two pieces of 6 mm 6061-T6 aluminum bar (or similar), inserted in the lower end of the topmast.

The longer piece is 755 x 23 mm, the shorter 406 x 21 mm.  Both are cut with the sides sloped by 10 degrees, so that they are a push fit inside the topmast section.
