Position statement from the Japan Tasar Association.

Summer has passed away. Many more typhoons landed this year than usual. Then the most wonderful time in Japan has come. It’s a good time to enjoy our outdoor life, sailing, art and harvest. In Autumn, many kind of events are held in Japan. As for sailing regatta, almost all classes have their Japan Nationals in this 2 months. We, JTA, also have Nationals on 10th - 13th Oct. at Asiya next to Kobe (where they had severe damage with Big-earthquake in 1995 ).

This year, 10 more new teams have joined with us. The cases that well-known sailors in other classes begin to sail the Tasar with their wives are increasing. As the new comers stimulate us, more competitive races among light teams are expected. The light teams in Japan have enough powers against the world now and we are just waiting for "Kamikaze teams" for heavy conditions.

Here is special information from JTA. Agenda and place of ‘99 Worlds (Tasar Internationals) were decided as follows: Dates: 18th - 26th Sept. 1999

Place: Lake-Hamanako in Shizuoka Pref. Lake- Hamanako is located in central Japan. Four-Seventy’s Worlds and Snipe Jr’s Worlds have been held there. The official announcement will be made at Melbourne.

From Japan, 10 teams will fly to Melbourne to chuck a shrimp on the barbie. Look forward to seeing you again there!
