AGM
TAUK supports proposal
to reduce the minimum hull weight
The UK Tasar
Association has adopted a minimum hull weight of 66 kg for UK-only
events, and would be happy to see this implemented at the world
level. However, at the TAUK AGM on July 30, TAUK members also
decided that if World Tasar Class Association keeps the minimum
hull weight at 68 kg, TAUK will revert to that hull weight.
(Note: Since 5
of the 10 Tasar districts have voted not to approve the reduction
in hull weight, the minimum weight in Class Rule D3
will remain at 68 kg for now. A decision will be made at the
next World Council meeting, to be held in Victoria, BC, in June,
2003, on whether to ask districts to vote on a reduction in this
weight.)
TAUK not in favour of changing crew weight
rule
TAUK members discussed the various proposals that have been put
forward for changing the crew weight rule, including the proposal
from the Japan Tasar Association. The general view was that
there is no need to change the current crew weight rule. There
was no enthusiasm for any consideration of crew height when looking
at equalization. There was no objection to regional variations
in the crew weight rule.
