Changes
to the Downhaul Cleat Nearing Approval

At the Tasar World Council meeting in Darwin, the Measurer's Committee
recommended allowing the use of a swivelling block with cleat for
the downhaul. A Ronstan RF5 or similar fitting could be used.
The RF5 costs about $35USD, and should be available in all regions.
There was general support for this suggestion at the World Council meeting,
but no vote was taken.
Designer Frank Bethwaite has confirmed that he agrees with the
proposal and will make the necessary specification change to allow the use
of an RF5 or similar fitting as an option, in place of the current clamcleat.
The World Council has now approved this specification change, in
accordance with the requirements of Class Rule A.1.2. We are currently
waiting to hear from ISAF whether or not this specification change
requires their approval. If it does, we are confident they will approve it.
We will advise as soon as we hear from ISAF and can confirm that
this type of fitting is legal for use in Tasar events.
