ISAF Approves RCB Stay Slides for New Boats

From the Executive Secretary:

ISAF has approved the specification change that allows RCB shroud tracks and cars to be fitted to new boats.

ISAF agrees that we should be allowed to retro-fit newly approved equipment to existing boats. (We did this when mylar sails were approved as a specification change.) However, Georg Tallberg, the Chair of the ISAF Class Rules sub-committee, believes that the Tasar class rules as written do not allow this.

We are currently seeking ISAF's advice on the rule changes required to clarify that we are always allowed to retro-fit newly approved equipment to existing boats. Once ISAF has agreed on the rule changes required, I will send them to the World Council, and ask them to start the approval process as quickly as possible.

At this point it is unclear whether we will be allowed to retro-fit RCB shroud tracks and cars to existing boats, before a rule change is approved. I hope that we can move quickly to make sure RCB tracks and cars can be retro-fitted to existing boats before the next Worlds.

World Tasar Class Executive Secretary
