specification
These specifications will be used by the licensed class sailmakers to fit windows as standard in new mainsails (once existing stocks have been sold). Owners may have a sailmaker fit a window
to an existing mainsail. Provided these windows
conform to the specifications
published here they will be accepted as conforming to the class rules.

The top edge of the transparent panel shall be placed 35 mm down from the bottom of the first horizontal seam and run parallel to it. The aft edge of the transparent panel shall be placed 35 mm in from the seam shown and shall run parallel to it. The dimensions of the opening shall be as shown in the diagram. There is a tolerance of +/- 5 mm on all dimensions shown. (Note: If the sizes and placement of the first two edges of the transparent panel are correct, the bottom edge of the transparent panel will run parallel with, and approximately 35 mm above, the foot of the sail.) Material. The
transparent panel material shall be either:
(a) in Australia - Vybak 0.75 mm as used in Australian jibs, or (b) in other regions - either Vybak 0.75 mm or the material used in jibs
sold in that region. Richard Spencer |
