2007 JTA Report

JTA Report to 2007 World Council Meeting

World championships
We are pleased to announce that the next world championship will be held at Wakayama Japan.
Sailors from other classes interested in the Japan worlds include the Athens 470 bronze medalist Seki Kazuto of Japan.

GPS
We agreed at our last AGM to carry GPS devices to be used only for recording the sail track of competitors. The race can then be reproduced with free software.

Class development
A new fleet has started at Biwako near Kyoto.
The Tasar is being considered as a post-junior boat. Skilled young girl sailors have started sailing the Tasar in Japan. I think crew weight rules should be removed to encourage youth sailors to join the Tasar class.

Mylar sails
The 2006 Nationals entry was 48 boats. Half of these used Mylar sails.
